| In the Bible, Mount Sinai is
called alternately Mount Horeb, Mount Paran and the
Mountain of God. It has proven difficult to indenify the
mountain positvely, because the Bible does not specify
it's exact location, which may even have been forgotten
by the monarchial period. Since the Roman-Byzantine Period, the mountain has been identified with Jebel Musa (Mount Moses, known also as Mount Sinai ) which is in the southern portion of the Sinai Peninsula |
