Deuteronomy Chapter 6
An Exhortaion to obedience.
6:1 Now these [are] the instructions, the laws, and the
rules, which Yehovah your God commanded to teach you, that
ya'll observe [them] in the land where ever ya'll go to occupy it
6:2 That you might revere Yehovah your God, to keep all his
laws and his commandments, which I command you, you, and your
son, and your son's son, all the days of your life ; to the end that you may long endure.
6:3 Obey, O Israel, willingly and faithfully, that
it may be well with you, and that ya'll may increase greatly, as Yehovah God of your fathers has promised you, in the land that
flows with milk and honey.
6:4 Hear, O Israel Yehovah our God [is] one LORD
6:5 And you shall love Yehovah your God with all your
heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might.
6:6 Take to heart these instructions with which I charge you this day.
6:7 And you shall teach them diligently to your children. Recite them when you stay in your house, and when you are way, and when you lie down, and when you get up.
6:8 And you shall bind them for a sign upon your hand, and
let them serve as symbol on your forehead.
6:9 And you shall inscribe them upon the doorposts of your house, and on your gates.
6:10 And it shall be, when Yehovah your God shall have
brought you into the land which he sware to your fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give you great and goodly cities, which you did not build,
6:11 And houses full of all good [things], which you did not fill, and wells digged, which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees, which you did not plant; when you shall have eaten and be full ;
6:12 [Then] beware unless you forget Yehovah , which brought
you forth out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage.
6:13 You shall revere Yehovah your God, and serve him, and
shall swear by his name.
6:14 ya'll shall not follow other gods, of the gods of the
people which [are] round about you;
6:15 (For Yehovah your God [is] a jealous God among you) unless the anger of Yehovah your God be kindled against you, and destroy you from off the face of the earth.
6:16 Do not try Yehovah your God, as ya'll did at Massah.
6:17 ya'll shall diligently keep the commandments of Yehovah
your God, and his decrees, and his laws, which he has
commanded you.
6:18 And you shall do [what is] right and good in the
sight of Yehovah that it may be well with you, and that you may go in and possess the good land which Yehovah sware to your
fathers,
6:19 To cast out all your enemies from before you, as
Yehovah has spoken.
6:20 [And] when your son ask you in time to come, saying,
What [mean] the decrees, laws, and the rules, which Yehovah our God has commanded you?
6:21 Then you shall say to your son, We were Pharaoh's
slaves in Egypt ; and Yehovah brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand
6:22 And Yehovah shown signs and wonders, great and sore,
upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes
6:23 And he brought us out from there, that he might bring
us in, to give us the land which he sware to our fathers.
6:24 And Yehovah commanded us to observe all these laws, to
revere Yehovah our God, for our good always, that he might preserve us alive, as [it is] at this day.
6:25 And it shall be our merit, if we observe all these Instruction before Yehovah our God, as He has commanded us.
