Exodus
Chapter 20 (the commandments)
20:1 And Eloheem spake all these words, saying,
No Other Gods
20:2 I [am] Yehovah your God, which have brought
you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
20:3 You shall have no other gods besides me.
20:4 You shall not make for yourself any sculptured image, or any
likeness [of any thing] that [is] in heaven above, or that [is]
in the earth beneath, or that [is] in the water under the earth
20:5 You shall not bow down to them, and serve
them for I Yehovah your God [am] a jealous God, visiting the guilt of the parents upon the children to the
third and fourth [generation] of them that reject me;
20:6 And showing mercy to thousands of them that love
me, and keep my commandments.
20:7 You shall not swear falsley the name of Yehovah your
God ; for Yehovah will not clear one who swears falsely by His Name
Remember the Sabbath
20:8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
20:9 Six days shall you labor, and do all your work
20:10 But the seventh day [is] the
Sabbath of Yehovah your God [in it] you shall not do any work,
you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your manservant, nor your
maidservant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger that [is] within
your gates
20:11 For [in] six days Yehovah made heaven and earth, the
sea, and all that in them [is], and rested the seventh day
wherefore Yehovah blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
Honor Father and Mother
20:12 Honor your father and your mother that your days may be long upon the land
which Yehovah your God gives ya'll .
20:13 You shall not kill.
20:14 You shall not commit adultery.
20:15 You shall not steal.
20:16 You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
20:17 You shall not covet Your neighbor's house, you shall
not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that [is]
your neighbor's.
20:18 And all the people saw the thunder, and the lightning,
and the noise of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking and when
the people saw [it], they fell back, and stood far off.
20:19 And they said to Moses, Speak you with us, and we
will hear but let not God speak with us, unless we die.
20:20 And Moses said to the
people, Fear not for God is come to prove you, and that his fear
may be before your faces, that you sin not.
20:21 And the people stood afar off, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God [was].
Idolatry forbiden
20:22 And Yehovah said to Moses, This you shall say to the children of Israel, You have seen that I have talked with you
from heaven.
20:23 You shall not make with me gods of silver, neither
shall you make to you gods of gold.
The altar
20:24 An altar of earth you shall make to Me, and shall
sacrifice thereon your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices of
well-being, your sheep, and your oxen in all places where I
record my name I will come to you, and I will bless you.
20:25 And if you will make me an altar of
stone, you shall not build it of hewn stone for if you lift up
your tool upon it, you have profaned them.
20:26 Neither shall you go up by steps to My altar, that
your nakedness be not exposed upon it.
