Chapter 1

Joshua ordered to cross Jordan

1:1 Now after the death of Moses the servant of Yehovah it came to pass, that Yehovah spoke to Yeshua the son of Nun, Moses' minister, saying,
1:2 Moses my servant is dead ; now rise up, cross over this Jordan, you, and all this people, to the land which I do give to them, [even] to the sons of Israel.
1:3 Every place on which your foot shall tread, I have given it to you, as I said to Moses.
From the wilderness and this Lebanon even to the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the great sea toward the sitting sun, shall be your border.
1:5 There shall not any man be able to stand before you all the days of your life as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with you I will not fail you, nor forsake you.
1:6 Be strong and of a brave for you shall cause this people to inherit the land, which I swore to their fathers to give them.
1:7 Only be you strong and very brave, that you may observe to do according to all the Torah, which Moses my servant commanded you. Do turn not from it [to] the right [to] the left, that you may act wisely wherever you go.
This book of the Torah shall not depart out of your mouth ; but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may be on guard to do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall prosper your way, and then you shall act wisely.
1:9 Have not I commanded you? Be strong and brave ; be not afraid, or discouraged for Yehovah your God [is] with you in all [places] where you go.

Joshua Prepares the people

1:10 Then Yeshua commanded the officers of the people, saying,
1:11 Pass through the camp, and tell the people, saying, Prepare food for you. For within three days ya'll shall pass over this Jordan, to go
in to possess the land, which Yehovah your God gives you to possess it.
1:12 And Yeshua spoke to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, saying,
1:13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of Yehovah commanded you, saying, Yehovah your God has given you rest, and has given you this land.
1:14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you beyond the Jordan. But ya'll shall cross over armed before your brothers, all the mighty warriors, and help them;
1:15 Until Yehovah has given your brothers rest, as [he has given] you, and they also have possessed the land which Yehovah your God gives them then ya'll shall return to the land of your possession, and possess it, which Moses the servant of Yehovah gave you beyond the Jordan toward the rising of the sun.
1:16 And they answered Yeshua, saying, All that you commanded us we will do, and everywhere you send us, we will go.
1:17 According to all we heard from Moses, so will we listen to you. Surely Yehovah your God is with you, as he was with Moses.
1:18 Whoever rebels against your mouth, and will not listen to your commands in all that you say to him, he shall be put to death. Only, be strong and brave.
