Jerusalem’s rejection shown by the unfit vine branch

15:1 And the word of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

came to me, saying,
15:2 Son of Manאָדָם

, what will become of the vine tree compared to any tree, the a branch that is among the trees of the forest?* In this prophecy, Israel is compared to a vine, but not a grapevine flourishing in the vineyard: rather, a fruitless vine vine growing among the trees of the forest. Unlike other barren trees that can be used for lumber, this vine has no practical use for man except as fuel for his fire. 15:3 Can wood be taken from it to use for productive work? Can men take a peg from it to hang any vessel on it?
15:4 See, if it is thrown into the fire for fuel; the fire consumes both its ends, and the inside of it is charred would it be useful for productive work?
15:5 Look, when it was whole, it couldn’t be used for productive work: so how much less when fire consumed it and became charred could it be useful for productive work?
15:6 So says Adonaiהָאָדוֹן
 the Lord, Pluralis majestatis taken as singular) is the possessive form of adon (“Lord”), along with the first-person singular pronoun enclitic. As with Elohim, Adonai’s grammatical form is usually explained as a plural of majesty. For more info click here

15:8 And I will make the land desolate, because they have dealt so treacherously, says Adonaiהָאָדוֹן
