2:1 AND it so happened, when YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

2:3 And the sons of the prophets that were at Bethel came forth to Elishaאֱלִישָׁע‎

will take away your master from your head today? And he said, Yea, I know it; hold ya’ll your peace.

2:4 And Elijahאֵלִיָּהוּ

2:7 And fifty men of the sons of the prophets went, and stood to view afar off: and they two stood by Jordan.
2:8 And Elijahאֵלִיָּהוּ

took his robe, and wrapped it together, and struck the waters, and they were divided here and there, so that they two went over on dry ground.

2:9 And it so happen, when they were gone over, that Elijahאֵלִיָּהוּ

said, I beg you, let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.

2:10 And he said, you have asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if you see me when I am taken from you, it shall be so to you; but if not, it shall not be so.

Elijah is taken up to heaven

2:11 And it so happened, as they still went on, and talked, that, look, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both apart; and Elijahאֵלִיָּהוּ

went up by a whirlwind into heaven.

Elisha succeeds Elijah

2:12 And Elishaאֱלִישָׁע‎

saw it, and he cried, My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen of it. And he saw him no more: and he took hold of his own clothes, and tore them in two pieces.

2:13 He took up also the robe of Elijahאֵלִיָּהוּ

2:16 And they said to him, See now, there be with your servants fifty strong men; let them go, we beg you, and find your master: lest peradventure the Spirit of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

has taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, ya’ll shall not send.

2:17 And when they urged him till he was ashamed, he said, Send. They sent therefore fifty men; and they searched three days, but didn’t find him.
2:18 And when they returned to him, (because he stayed at Jericho,) he said to them, Didn’t I say to you, Don’t go?

Water of Jericho heeled

2:19 And the men of the city said to Elishaאֱלִישָׁע‎

, Behold, Please, the situation of this city is pleasant, as my lord sees: but the water is naught, and the ground barren.

2:20 And he said, Bring me a new cruse, and put salt therein. And they brought it to him.
2:21 And he went forth to the spring of the waters, and threw the salt in there, and said, So says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

2:22 So the waters were healed until now, according to the saying of Elishaאֱלִישָׁע‎

. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tore forty two children of them.

2:25 And he went from there to mount Carmel, and from there he returned to Samaria.
