Habakkuk’ s Complaint
1:1 The phophecy that Habakkuk the prophet saw.
1:2 O YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

1:3 Why do You show me evil, and cause me to look on trouble? with destruction and injustice before me: while there is strife and contention still remains.
1:4 So the Torahתּוֹרָה

Habakkuk is shown the fearful vengeance of the Chaldeans
1:5 Look ya’ll among the nations, and see, and amazed: Because I will bring about an event in your days that ya’ll won’t believe, when its retold to you.
1:6 For, see, I raise up the Chaldeans, that bitter and impulsive nation, which shall march through the expanses of the earth, to possess the dwelling places that are not its own.
1:7 It is terrible and awful: its judgment and its dignity shall come from it.
1:8 Its horses also are swifter than the leopards, and are more fierce than the wolves of the evening : and its horsemen are swift, and its horsemen shall come from afar; they shall fly like the eagle that hurries to eat.
1:9 It comes for violence: the eagerness of their faces is like the east wind, and it shall gather the captives like the sand.
1:10 It shall scoffs at the kings, and the officials are its sport: It shall mock every strong hold; heaping up dirt, and capturing it.
1:11 Then a spirit shall come and pass over it, and it will change its mind ,because of guilt [by saying], that its god gave it strength.

1:13 [You are] of purer eyes than to see evil, and You aren’t able to look on wrongdoing: Why, then, do You look on those that act deceitfully, Will You remain silent when the wicked devours the man that is more righteous than he?
1:14 You make men like the fishes of the sea, like creeping things, without ruler over them?
1:15 He brings all of them up with a hook, He catches his in their net, and gathers them in their trawl: because of this he rejoices and is glad.
1:16 So he sacrifice to his net, and burns incense to his trawl; because by them his portion [is] fat, and his food plentiful.
1:17 So he shall empty his net, to slay nations continually and without pity?
