Deuteronomy Chapter 28

Blessings for obedience

28:1 And it shall come to pass, if you will listen diligently to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe [and] to do all his commandments which I command ya’ll this day, that the LORD your God will set ya’ll on high above all nations of the earth
28:2 And all these blessings shall come on ya’ll , and overtake ya’ll , if you will listen to the voice of the LORD your God.
28:3 Blessed [will] you [be] in the city, and blessed [will] you [be] in the field.
28:4 Blessed [shall be] the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your ground, and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your kine, and the flocks of your sheep.
28:5 Blessed [shall be] your basket and your store.
28:6 Blessed [will] you [be] when you come in, and blessed [will] you [be] when you go out.
28:7 The LORD shall cause your enemies that rise up against ya’ll to be struck down before your face they shall come out against ya’ll one way, and flee before ya’ll seven ways.
28:8 The LORD shall command the blessing upon ya’ll in your storehouses, and in all that you set your hand unto; and he shall bless ya’ll in the land which the LORD your God gives ya’ll .
28:9 The LORD shall establish ya’ll an holy people to himself, as he has sworn to ya’ll , if you will keep the commandments of the LORD your God, and walk in his ways.
28:10 And all people of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD ; and they shall be afraid of ya’ll .
28:11 And the LORD shall make ya’ll plenteous in goods, in the fruit of your body, and in the fruit of your cattle, and in the fruit of your ground, in the land which the LORD sware to your fathers to give ya’ll .
28:12 The LORD shall open to ya’ll his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain to your land in his season, and to bless all the work of your hand and you will lend to many nations, and you will not borrow.
28:13 And the LORD shall make ya’ll the head, and not the tail ; and you will be above only, and you will not be beneath ; if that you listen to the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command ya’ll this day, to observe and to do [them]
28:14 And you will not go aside from any of the words which I command ya’ll this day, [to] the right hand, or [to] the left, to go after other gods to serve them.

Cursings for disoedience

28:15 But it shall come to pass, if you will not listen to the voice of the LORD your God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command ya’ll this day ; that all these curses shall come upon ya’ll , and overtake ya’ll
28:16 Cursed [will] you [be] in the city, and cursed [will] you [be] in the field.
28:17 Cursed [shall be] your basket and your store.
28:18 Cursed [shall be] the fruit of your body, and the fruit of your land, the increase of your kine, and the flocks of your sheep.
28:19 Cursed [will] you [be] when you come in, and cursed [will] you [be] when you go out.
28:20 The LORD shall send upon ya’ll cursing, frustration, and rebuke, in all that you set your hand to for to do, until you be destroyed, and until you perish quickly ; because of the wickedness of your doings, whereby you have forsaken me.
28:21 The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave to ya’ll , until he have consumed ya’ll from off the land, whither you go to possess it.
28:22 The LORD shall strike ya’ll with a consumption, and with a fever, and with an inflammation, and with an extreme burning, and with the sword, and with blasting, and with mildew ; and they shall pursue ya’ll until you perish.
28:23 And your heaven that [is] over your head shall be brass, and the earth that is under ya’ll [shall be] iron.
28:24 The LORD shall make the rain of your land powder and dust from heaven shall it come down upon ya’ll , until you be destroyed.
28:26 The LORD shall cause ya’ll to be struck down before your enemies you will go out one way against them, and flee seven ways before them and will be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth.
28:25 And your carcase shall be meat to all fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the earth, and no man shall fray [them] away.
28:27 The LORD will strike ya’ll with the botch of Egypt, and with the emerods, and with the scab, and with the itch, whereof you canst not be healed.
28:28 The LORD shall strike ya’ll with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart
28:29 And you will grope at noonday, as the blind gropeth in darkness, and you will not prosper in your ways and you will be only oppressed and spoiled evermore, and no man shall save [ ya’ll ].
28:30 You will betroth a wife, and another man shall lie with her you will build an house, and you will not stay therein you will plant a vineyard, and will not gather the grapes thereof.
28:31 Your ox [shall be] slain before your eyes, and you will not eat thereof your ass [shall be] violently taken away from before your face, and shall not be restored to ya’ll your sheep [shall be] given to your enemies, and you will have none to rescue [them].
28:32 Your sons and your daughters [shall be] given to another people, and your eyes shall look, and fail [with longing] for them all the day long and [there shall be] no might in your hand.
28:33 The fruit of your land, and all your labours, shall a nation which you know not eat up; and you will be only oppressed and crushed alway
28:34 So that you will be mad for the sight of your eyes which you will see.
28:35 The LORD shall strike ya’ll in the knees, and in the legs, with a sore botch that cannot be healed, from the sole of your foot to the top of your head.
28:36 The LORD shall bring ya’ll , and your king which you will set over ya’ll , to a nation which neither you nor your fathers have known ; and there will you serve other gods, wood and stone.
28:37 And you will become an astonishment, a proverb, and a byword, among all nations whither the LORD shall lead ya’ll .
28:38 You will carry much seed out into the field, and will gather [but] little in; for the locust shall consume it.
28:39 You will plant vineyards, and dress [them], but will neither drink [of] the wine, nor gather [the grapes]; for the worms shall eat them.
28:40 You will have olive trees throughout all your coasts, but you will not anoint [yourself] with the oil ; for your olive shall cast [his fruit].
28:41 You will beget sons and daughters, but you will not enjoy them; for they shall go into captivity.
28:42 All your trees and fruit of your land shall the locust consume.
28:43 The stranger that [is] within ya’ll shall get up above ya’ll very high ; and you will come down very low.
28:44 He shall lend to ya’ll , and you will not lend to him he shall be the head, and you will be the tail.
28:45 Moreover all these curses shall come upon ya’ll , and shall pursue ya’ll , and overtake ya’ll , till you be destroyed ; because you listened not to the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded ya’ll
28:46 And they shall be upon ya’ll for a sign and for a wonder, and upon your seed for ever.
28:47 Because you servedst not the LORD your God with joyfulness, and with gladness of heart, for the abundance of all [things];
28:48 Therefore will you serve your enemies which the LORD shall send against ya’ll , in hunger, and in thirst, and in nakedness, and in want of all [things] and he shall put a yoke of iron upon your neck, until he have destroyed ya’ll .
28:49 The LORD shall bring a nation against ya’ll from far, from the end of the earth, [as swift] as the eagle flies ; a nation whose tongue you will not understand ;
28:50 A nation of fierce countenance, which shall not regard the person of the old, nor show favour to the young
28:51 And he shall eat the fruit of your cattle, and the fruit of your land, until you be destroyed which [also] shall not leave ya’ll [either] corn, wine, or oil, [or] the increase of your kine, or flocks of your sheep, until he have destroyed ya’ll .
28:52 And he shall besiege ya’ll in all your gates, until your high and fenced walls come down, wherein you trusted, throughout all your land and he shall besiege ya’ll in all your gates throughout all your land, which the LORD your God has given ya’ll .
28:53 And you will eat the fruit of your own body, the flesh of your sons and of your daughters, which the LORD your God has given ya’ll , in the siege, and in the straitness, by which your enemies shall distress ya’ll
28:54 [So that] the man [that is] tender among you, and very delicate, his eye shall be evil toward his brother, and toward the wife of his bosom, and toward the remnant of his children which he shall leave
28:55 So that he will not give to any of them of the flesh of his children whom he shall eat because he has nothing left him in the siege, and in the straitness, by which your enemies shall distress ya’ll in all your gates.
28:56 The tender and delicate woman among you, which would not adventure to set the sole of her foot upon the ground for delicateness and tenderness, her eye shall be evil toward the husband of her bosom, and toward her son, and toward her daughter,
28:57 And toward her young one that comes out from between her feet, and toward her children which she shall bear for she shall eat them for want of all [things] secretly in the siege and straitness, by which your enemy shall distress ya’ll in your gates.
28:58 If you will not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that you may fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD your GOD ;
28:59 Then the LORD will make your plagues wonderful, and the plagues of your seed, [even] great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance.
28:60 Moreover he will bring upon ya’ll all the diseases of Egypt, which you were afraid of; and they shall cleave to ya’ll .
28:61 Also every sickness, and every plague, which [is] not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon ya’ll , until you be destroyed.
28:62 And ya’ll shall be left few in number, whereas ya’ll were as the stars of heaven for multitude ; because you would not obey the voice of the LORD your God.
28:63 And it shall come to pass, [that] as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nothing ; and ya’ll shall be plucked from off the land whither you go to possess it.
28:64 And the LORD shall scatter ya’ll among all people, from the one end of the earth even to the other; and there you will serve other gods, which neither you nor your fathers have known, [even] wood and stone.
28:65 And among these nations will you find no ease, neither shall the sole of your foot have rest but the LORD shall give ya’ll there a trembling heart, and failing of eyes, and sorrow of mind
28:66 And your life shall hang in doubt before ya’ll ; and you will fear day and night, and will have none assurance of your life
28:67 In the morning you will say, Would God it were even! and at even you will say, Would God it were morning! for the fear of your heart by which you will fear, and for the sight of your eyes which you will see.
28:68 And the LORD shall bring ya’ll into Egypt again with ships, by the way whereof I spake to ya’ll , You will see it no more again and there ya’ll shall be sold to your enemies for bondmen and bondwomen, and no man shall buy [you].
