Job Chapter 21

Job shows his reason to be grieved

21:1 But Job answered and said,
21:2 Listen carefully to what I say, and let this be your comfort.
21:3 Bear with me while I speak; and after I have spoken, then ridicule.
21:4 [As] for me, is my complaint aimed to a man? and if it were so, why shouldn’t I be impatient?
21:5 Turn toward me, and be shocked, and lay your hand on your mouth.
21:6 And if I recall [correctly] I am upset, and trembling takes hold of my flesh.
21:7 Why do the wicked live? They become old, yes, become powerful?
21:8 Their offspring are established in their sight with them, and their lineage before their eyes.
21:9 Their houses are in peaceשָׁלוֹם

21:10 Their bull mates, and doesn’t fail; their cow calves, and doesn’t miscarry.
21:11 They send out their little ones like a flock, and their sons dance.
21:12 They take the tambourine and lyre, and rejoice at the sound of the flute.
21:13 They spend their days in wealth, and in a moment go down [to] Sheolשְׁאוֹל

21:16 Look, their good future isn’t in their hands: the advice of the wicked is far from me.
21:17 How often is the lamp of the wicked put out! and how often does
their destruction come on them! He distributes sorrow in his anger.
21:18 They are as straw before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carries away.

21:21 For what is his joy in his house after him, when the number of his months [has been] cut off ?
21:22 Can [anyone] teach God knowledge? since He judges those that are honored.
21:23 One dies in his full strength, being totally at ease and quiet.
21:24 His sides are full of milk, and his bones are moistened with marrow.
21:25 And another dies in the bitterness of his soul, and never eats with pleasure.
21:26 They shall lie down alike in the dust, and the worms shall cover them.
21:27 See, I know your thoughts, and the plots ya’ll wrongfully imagine against me.
21:28 Because ya’ll say, Where is the house of the noble? and where is the tent of the dwelling places of the wicked?
21:29 Haven’t ya’ll asked those that go by the road? and don’t ya’ll know their signs?
21:30 That the wicked is reserved for the day of destruction? they shall be brought to the day of anger.
21:31 Who shall declare his way to his face? and who repays him for what he has done?
21:32 Yet shall he be brought to the grave, and shall remain in the tomb.
21:33 The clods of the valley shall be sweet to him, and every man are drawn after him, and before him are countless.
21:34 How then do
ya’ll comfort me with self-importance, seeing how your answers remain falsehood?
