Esther Chapter 6

The king hears Mordecai’s record

6:1 On that night couldn’t the king sleep, and he said to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
6:2 And it was found written, that Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

had told of Bigthana (Bigthan) and Teresh, two of the king’s eunuchs, the guards of the threshold, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
6:3 And the king said, What honor and dignity has been done to Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

for this? Then said the king’s young servants that ministered to him, Nothing done for him.
6:4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outer court of the king’s house, to speak to the king to hang Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

on the wooden [gallows] that he had built for him.
6:5 And the king’s servants said unto him, Look, Haman stands in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
6:6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honor more than to myself?
6:7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honor,
6:8 let the royal clothing be brought, which the king put on himself, and the horse that the king rides on, and the crown royal which is set on his head:
6:9 And let this clothing and horse be given into the hand of one of the king’s most noble men of the most noble princes, and let them dress the man whom the king delights to honor, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and call out before him, In this way it be done to the man whom the king delights, in honoring him!

6:10 Then the king said to Haman, Hurry! Take the clothing and the horse, as you have said, and do so to Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

the Jew, who sits at the king’s gate. Don’t fail to do any of all the things that you have spoken.
6:11 Then took Haman the clothing and the horse, and dressed Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and called out before him, In this way shall it be done to the man whom the king delights, in honoring him!

Mordecai is honored above Haman

6:12 And Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
6:13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends everything that had happened to him. Then his wise men and Zeresh his wife said to him, If Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

[is] of the offspring of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but shall surely fall before him.
6:14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s eunuchs, and they hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Estherאֶסְתֵּר
Transliteration;’estēr Pronunciation es-tare’ Esther = “star” the queen of Persia, heroine of the book of Esther – daughter of Abihail, cousin and adopted daughter of Mordecai, of the tribe of Benjamin. Said to be a Prophetesses in the Talmud. For more info click here
