Jeremiah Chapter 15

Complete rejection of Judah and resulting judgements

15:1 Then YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

said to me, Though Mosesמֹשֶׁה

and Samuelוּשְׁמוּאֵל
Šəmūʾēl appears to be constructed from the Hebrew Śāmū (שָׂמוּ)+ ʾĒl, meaning “God has set” or “God has placed”. This meaning relating to the idea of God setting/placing a child in the womb, alongside Hannah dedicating Samuel as a Nazirite to God.
stood before me, yet my mind [could] not [be] toward these people: throw them out of my sight, and let them go forth.
15:2 And it will so happen, if they say to you, where shall we go out? Then you shall tell them, so says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

15:3 And I will appoint over them four kinds, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

15:7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will make them childless, I will destroy my people since they don’t return from their ways.
15:8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought on them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall on it suddenly, and terrors on the city.
15:9 The mother of seven sons grows faint: she has given up the ghost; her sun is gone down while it was yet day: she has been ashamed and confounded: and the residue of them will I deliver to the sword before their enemies, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Jeremiah receives a promise and a threat


15:10 Woe is me, my mother, that you have borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them curses me.
15:11 YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

said, Verily it shall be well with your remnant; verily I will cause the enemy to entreat you well in the time of evil and in the time of affliction.
15:12 Shall iron break the northern iron and the steel?
15:13 Your substance and your treasures will I give to the spoil without price, and that for all your sins, even in all your borders.
15:14 And I will make you to pass with your enemies into a land which you knows not: for a fire is kindled in mine anger, which shall burn on you.

, you know: remember me, and visit me, and revenge me of my persecutors; Don’t take me away in your longsuffering: know that for your sake I have suffered rebuke.
15:16 Your words were found, and I did eat them; and your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart: for I am called by Your Name, O YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Elohimאֱלֹהָי
Pronounced:’ĕlōhê In Hebrew grammatical construct is a way of connecting noun-noun pairs. In english, we use “of”, but in Hebrew there are quite a few ways of doing this. של is usually used in place of “of” in Hebrew, but in this case, we modify the first word, with the suffix “ey” (which is what we do for plural words, which God’s name is in Torah), i.e. God of Abraham becomes Elohei Avraham. also can be of my – See Elohim for more info click here

15:17 I didn’t sit in the assembly of the mockers, or rejoiced; I sat alone because of your hand: for you have filled me with indignation.
15:18 Why is my pain perpetual, and my wound incurable, which refuses to be healed? will you be altogether to me like a liar, and as waters that fail?
15:19 Therefore so says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

15:20 And I will make you to this people a fenced bronze wall: and they shall fight against you, but they shall not prevail against you: because I am with you to save you and to deliver you, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
