Judges Tola and Jair

10:1 And after Abimelechאֲבִימֶלֶךְ
(/əˈbɪməˌlɛk/;’Ǎḇīmeleḵ) was the king of Shechem and a son of biblical judge Gideon. His name can best be interpreted as “my father is king”,claiming the inherited right to rule.
there rose up to defend Israel Tola the son of Puah, the son of Dodo, a man of Issachar ; and he lived in Shamir in mount Ephraim.

10:2 And he judged Israel twenty three years, and died, and was buried in Shamir.
10:3 And after him rose up Jair, a Gileadite, and judged Israel twenty two years.
10:4 And he had thirty sons that rode on thirty ass colts, and they had thirty cities, which are called Havothjair to this day, which [are] in the land of Gileadגִּלְעָד
or Gilad (/ˈɡɪliəd/; Gilʿāḏ) is the ancient, historic, biblical name of the mountainous northern part of the region of Transjordan. The region is bounded in the west by the Jordan River, in the north by the deep ravine of the river Yarmouk and the region of Bashan, and in the southwest by what were known during antiquity as the “plains of Moab”, with no definite boundary to the east.

10:5 And Jair died, and was buried in Camon.

Again Israel serves Baalim and Ashtaroth


10:6 And the children of Israel did evil again in the sight of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

10:7 And the anger of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

10:8 And that year they vexed and oppressed the children of Israel eighteen years, all the children of Israel that [were] on the other side Jordan in the land of the Amorites, which [is] in Gileadגִּלְעָד

10:12 The Zidonians also, and the Amalekitesעֲמָלֵק

10:13 Yet ya’ll have forsaken me, and served other gods wherefore I will deliver you no more.
10:14 Go and cry to the gods which ya’ll have chosen ; let them deliver you in the time of your tribulation.
10:15 And the children of Israel said to YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

10:16 And they put away the strange gods from among them, and served YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

10:17 Then the children of Ammon were gathered together, and encamped in Gileadגִּלְעָד

10:18 And the people [and] princes of Gileadגִּלְעָד

said one to another, What man [is he] that will begin to fight against the children of Ammon ? he shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gileadגִּלְעָד
