is going out of His place, and will descend, and trample on the high places of the land.
1:4 And the mountains will melt away under Him, and the valleys will split open, like wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a slope.
1:5 All this because of the sin of Jacob, and for the sins of the House of Israel. What is the sin of Jacob? wasn’t it Samaria? and who [caused] the high places of Judah? wasn’t it Jerusalem?
1:6 So I will make Samaria like a mound in the field, and like a place to plant vineyards: and I will roll away its stones to the valley, and I will uncover its foundations.
1:7 And all the carved images of it will be beaten to pieces, and all of its [idolatrous] gifts will be burned with the fire, and all the idols of it I will lay desolate: for the were gathered like the reward of a harlot, and they will return to the reward of a harlot.
1:8 Because of this I will wail and lament, I will go around delirious and naked: I will make a lamentation like the jackals, and mourning like the owls.
1:9 For her wounds [are] incurable; for it has come to Judah; it is extended to the gate of My people, up to Jerusalem.

Micah urges mourning

1:10 Don’t declare it at Gath, don’t weep at all in the house of Aphrah wallow in the dirt.
1:11 Pass on [to exile], You inhabitants of Saphir, with
nakedness uncovered. The inhabitants of Zaanan haven’t gone out in mourning for Bethezel; [the enemy] will take [the cost of] his stay from you.
1:12 Because the inhabitants of Maroth hoped for the best: but evil came down from before YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

to the gate of Jerusalem.
1:13 T
ie the chariot to the stallion, Inhabitant of Lachish, that was the beginning of sin to the people of Zion: for the sins of Israel were found in you.
1:14 So will you give gifts to Moreshethgath. The houses of Achzib will become a lost cause to the kings of Israel.
1:15 Yet will I bring a dispossessor against you, O inhabitant of Mareshah:
the glory of Israel will withdraw to Adullam.
1:16 Make yourself bald, and pull out your hair for your delicate sons; Make your baldness broad like the eagle’s; for they are gone into exile from you.
