has His way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds [are] the dust of His feet.
1:4 He rebukes the sea, and makes it dry, and dries up all the rivers: Bashan and Carmel become demolished the flower of Lebanon withers.
1:5 The mountains quake because of Him, and the hills melt, and the earth smolders at His presence, and the world, and all that live on it.
1:6 Who can stand before His fury? and who can rise in the heat of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are shattered because of him.
1:7 YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

God’s Severity against enemies


1:8 But with a sweeping flood, He will put an utter end to its place, and darkness will pursue His enemies.
1:9 What are ya’ll plotting against YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

1:10 While they are like
tangled thorns, and while they are drunk in their intoxication, they will be consumed like fully dry straw.
1:11 There is one come out of y’all a plotter of evil against YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

; [to Nineveh] Though they be united, and likewise many, even so they will be cut down and pass on. Though I have afflicted y’all, I won’t [need to] afflict y’all again.
1:13 Now will I break his yoke from off y’all, and will snap your bonds.
1:14 And YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

has given a decree concerning y’all, that
your name will never be sown again: out of the house of your gods will I cut off the idol and the cast image: I will make your grave [there]; because you are vile.
1:15 Look upon the mountains the feet of of the herald that proclaims peace, that publishes peace! O Judah, keep your vows: for the lawless one will no more pass by y’all; he is completely cut off.

(verse 15 is verse 1 in the second chapter of Nahum in the Tanach)
