Moses recalls the rebellions of the sons of Israel.

9:1 Hear, O Israel today you [are] about to cross the Jordan , to go in to drive out nations greater and mightier than yourself, cities great and fortified up to the heavens,
9:2 A great and tall
people, the sons of Anakimעֲנָקִים

9:5 Not because of your righteousness, or the uprightness of your heart, that you go to possess their land. But because of the wickedness of these nations YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

9:14 Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and wipe out their name from under the heavens and I will make of you a nation mightier and greater than they.
9:15 So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount was burning with fire and the two tablets of the covenant [were] in my two hands.
9:16 And I looked, and, saw, y’all had sinned against YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
