At the Jordan

3:1 AND Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁעַ
Yəhōšuaʿ,(/ˈdʒɒʃuə/), lit. ‘Yahweh is salvation’) also known as Yehoshua. Yeshua or Y’shua (ישוע; with vowel pointing Hebrew: יֵשׁוּעַ, romanized: Yēšūaʿ) was a common alternative form of the name Yehoshua (Hebrew: יְהוֹשֻׁעַ, romanized: Yəhōšūaʿ, lit. ’Joshua’) in later books of the Hebrew Bible and among Jews of the Second Temple period. The name corresponds to the Greek spelling Iesous (Ἰησοῦς), from which, through the Latin IESVS/Iesus, comes the English spelling Jesus meaning salvation.
rose early in the morning ; and they removed from Shittim, and came to Jordan, he and all the children of Israel, and lodged there before they passed over.
3:2 And it so happened after three days, that the officers went through the host ;

3:4 Yet there shall be a space between you and it, about two thousand cubits noun — an ancient measure of length, approximately equal to the length of a forearm. It was typically about 18 inches or 44 cm, though there was a long cubit of about 21 inches or 52 cm. — ORIGIN Middle English : from Latin cubitum ‘elbow, forearm, cubit’. by measure come not near to it, that ya’ll may know the way by which ya’ll must go for ya’ll have not passed [this] way heretofore.

said to the people, Sanctify yourselves for tomorrow YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

spoke to the priests, saying, Take up the ark of the covenant, and pass over before the people. And they took up the ark of the covenant, and went before the people.
3:7 And YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

, This day will I begin to magnify ya’ll in the sight of all Israel, that they may know that, as I was with Moses, [so] I will be with ya’ll .
3:8 And you will command the priests that bear the ark of the covenant, saying, When ya’ll are come to the brink of the water of Jordan, ya’ll shall stand still in Jordan.

said to the children of Israel, Come hither, and hear the words of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

3:11 Behold, the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

3:12 Now therefore take you twelve men out of the tribes of Israel, out of every tribe a man.
3:13 And it shall happen, as soon as the soles of the feet of the priests that bear the ark of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of Jordan, [that] the waters of Jordan shall be cut off [from] the waters that come down from above ; and they shall stand upon an heap.

3:14 And it so happened, when the people removed from their tents, to pass over Jordan, and the priests bearing the ark of the covenant before the people ;
3:15 And as they that bare the ark were come to Jordan, and the feet of the priests that bare the ark were dipped in the brim of the water,(for Jordan overflows all his banks all the time of harvest,)
3:16 That the waters which came down from above stood [and] rose up upon an heap very far from the city Adam, that [is] beside Zaretan and those that came down toward the sea of the plain, [even] the salt sea, failed, [and] were cut off and the people passed over right against Jerichoיְרִיחוֹ
(/ˈdʒɛrɪkoʊ/ JERR-ik-oh in Hebrew, Yeriẖo, is generally thought to derive from the Canaanite word rēḥ “fragrant”, but other theories hold that it originates in the Canaanite word for “moon” (Yaraḥ) or the name of the lunar deity Yarikh, for whom the city was an early centre of worship. 3:17 And the priests that bare the ark of the covenant of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

stood firm on dry ground in the midst of Jordan, and all the Israelites passed over on dry ground, until all the people were passed clean over Jordan.
