Israel’s stubbornness

48:1 Hear ya’ll this, O house of Jacobיַעֲקֹב

48:3 I have declared the former things from the beginning; and they went out of my mouth, and I showed them; I did them suddenly, and they happened.
48:4 Because I knew that you are stubborn, and your neck is an iron tendon, and your brow bronze;
48:5 I have even from the beginning declared it to you; before it happened I showed it you: so that you couldn’t say, My idol did it, and my carved image, my molten image, gave the order for it.
48:6 you have heard, see all this; and will not ya’ll declare it? I have showed you new things from this time, even hidden things, and you did not know them.
48:7 They are created now, and not from the beginning; even before the day when you heard them not; so you couldn’t say, I already knew them.
48:8 You have never heard, you have never known, from that time that your ear wasn’t opened: because I knew that you would deal very treacherously, and were called a transgressor from the womb.
48:9 For my name’s sake will I defer my anger, and for my praise will I refrain for you, that I cut you not off.
48:10 Look, I have refined you, but not with silver; I have chosen you in the furnace of affliction.
48:11 For my own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted? and I will not give my glory to another.
