Micah Chapter 5

The Promised ruler out of Bethlehem


5:1 Now gather yourself together, O daughter of the armed troop: He has laid siege against us:
with a rod they will strike the judges of Israel on the cheek.
5:2 But you, Bethlehem (/ˈbɛθlɪhɛm/; Bet Leḥem in Hebrew (Hebrew: בֵּית לֶחֶם), literally “house of bread” or “house of food.” Ephratah, though you are too small to be among the thousands of Judahיְהוּדָה

, yet from y’all will he emerge for Me that is to be ruler in Israel; His origins will be from early times, from the days of old.
5:3 So will He give deliver them [to their enemies] until the time that a woman gives birth: then the rest of his brothers will return with the sons of Israel.

5:4 And he will stand up and lead with the strength of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

; They will settle for at that time He will  be great to the ends of the earth.
5:5 And this one will be peaceשָׁלוֹם

, if Assyria will come into our land: and if he will walk in our palaces, then will we raise against him seven shepherds, or eight principal ones of man.
5:6 And they will waste the land of Assyria with the sword, and the land of Nimrod in the entrances of it: so will He deliver [us] from the Assyrian, when they enter our land, and when they walk on our borders.
5:7 And the remnant of Jacobיַעֲקֹב

will be in the middle of many people like dew from YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

, like the showers on the grass, which is hoped for man and lingered from a human being.
5:8 And the remnant of Jacobיַעֲקֹב

will be among the nations in the middle of many people like a lion among the animals of the forest, like a young lion among the flocks of sheep: who, if he goes through, both treads down, and tears in pieces, and there is no rescuer.
5:9 Your hand will be raised above your adversaries, and all your enemies will be extinguished.
5:10 And it will so happen on that day, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

, that I will eliminate your horses from among y’all, and I will destroy your chariots:
5:11 And I will eliminate the cities of your land, and tear down all your strong holds:
5:12 And I will cut off witchcraft out of your hand; and you will have no more diviners among you:
5:13 Also will I eliminate your craved idols, and your pillars from among y’all; and you won’t worship the work of your hands anymore.
5:14 And I will pull up your groves from among of you: so will I destroy your cities.
5:15 And with anger and fury I will execute vengeance against the nations, because they haven’t listened.
