Ephraim’s idolatry


13:1 When Ephraimאֶפְרַיִם‎
(/ˈiːfriːəm/;ʾEp̄rayīm, in pausa: אֶפְרָיִם‎ ʾEp̄rāyīm). The Book of Genesis related the name “Ephraim” to the Hebrew root פָּרָה (pārā), meaning “to be fruitful”. This referring to Joseph’s ability to produce children, specifically while in Egypt (termed by the Torah as the land of his affliction). 13:3 So they shall be as the morning cloud and as the early dew that passes away, as the chaff that is driven with the whirlwind from the threshing floor, and as the smoke out of the window.
13:4 Yet I am YAHWEH יְהֹוָה‎

13:5 I have known you in the wilderness, in the land of great drought.
13:6 According to their pasture, so were they filled; they were filled, and their heart was lifted up; because of this have they forgotten me.
13:7 So I will be like a lion to them : I will watch them by the way like a leopard :
13:8 I will meet them like a bear whose cubs are taken away, and will tear the enclosure of their heart, and there will I devour them like a lion: the wild beast shall tear them.

God’s mercy promised


13:9 O Israel, you are destroyed; but in Me is your help.
13:10 Where [is] your king: Where is any other that may save you in all your cities? and [where are] your judges of whom you said, Give me a king and rulers?
13:11 I gave you a king in my anger, and take [him] away in my wrath.
13:12 The iniquity of Ephraimאֶפְרַיִם‎

13:15 Though he is fruitful among his brothers, an east wind shall come, the wind of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה‎

13:16 Samaria shall be desolate; for she has rebelled against her El Haiאלהי‎
