Hosea Chapter 11

The ingratitude of Israel to God for his benefits

11:1 When Israel [was] a child, I loved him then, and called my son out of Egypt.
11:2 As they called them, so they went from their face: They sacrificed to Baalim (From Easton’s Bible Dictionary) — plural of Baal; images of the god Baal (Judges 2:11; 1 Samuel 7:4)., and burned incense to craved images.
11:3 I also taught Ephraimאֶפְרַיִם‎
(/ˈiːfriːəm/;ʾEp̄rayīm, in pausa: אֶפְרָיִם‎ ʾEp̄rāyīm). The Book of Genesis related the name “Ephraim” to the Hebrew root פָּרָה (pārā), meaning “to be fruitful”. 11:7 And my people are bent to backsliding from Me: though they called them to the Most High, no one at all would exalt Him.
