2:2 Plead with your mother, plead: because she is not My wife, nor am I her husband: let her so put away her harlotry out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts;
2:3 so that I don’t strip her naked, and place her like the day that she was born, and make her like a wilderness, and place her like a dry land, and kill her with thirst.
2:4 And I won’t have mercy upon her sons; because they be the sons of harlotry.
2:5 Because their mother is a harlot: she that conceived them has acted shamefully: for she said, I will go after my lovers, who give me my bread and my water, my wool and my flax, my oil and my drink.

God’s judgments on them

2:6 So, look, I will hedge up your way with thorns, and make a wall, [so] that she won’t find her paths.
2:7 And she will follow after her lovers, but she will not overtake them; and she will seek them, but won’t find them: then will she say, I will go back to my first husband; for then [it was] better with me than now.
2:8 Because she did not know that I gave her grain, and wine, and oil, and multiplied her silver and gold, they prepared for Baalבַּעַל
baʿal) (/ˈbeɪ.əl, ˈbɑː.əl/), or Baʽal a fertility god whose cult was widespread in ancient Phoenician and Canaanite lands. For more info click here

2:9 So will I return, and take away My grain in its time, and My wine in its season, and will recover My wool and My flax [she uses] to cover her nakedness.
2:10 And now will I uncover her immodesty in the sight of her lovers, and no one will deliver her out of My hand.
2:11 I will also cause all her joy to cease, her feast days, her new moons, and her sabbaths, and all her solemn feasts.
2:12 And I will destroy her vines and her fig trees, of which she has said, They are my rewards that my lovers have given me: and I will make them a forest, and the beasts of the field will eat them.
2:13 And I will visit on her the days of Baalim (From Easton’s Bible Dictionary) — plural of Baal; images of the god Baal (Judges 2:11; 1 Samuel 7:4) also slang for husband., in which she burned incense to them, and she decked herself with her earrings and her jewels, and she went after her lovers, and forgot me, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
