Hosea Chapter 6

Exhortation to repentance

6:1 Come, and let us return to YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
Hebrew Yəhōwā, one vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה‎ (YHWH), the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. : for he has torn, and he will heal us; he has struck, and he will bind us up.
6:2 After two days will He bring us to life. In the third day He will raise us up, and we shall live in His sight.
6:3 Then
we shall know, we who follow on to know YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

: His going out is prepared as the dawn; and he shall come to us like the rain, as the latter [and] former rain to the earth.

A complaint of iniquity


6:4 O Ephraim, what shall I do to you? O Judah, what shall I do to you? For your goodness is like a morning cloud, and
it goes away early like dew .
6:5 So have I cut [them] by the prophets; I have killed them by the words of My mouth: and your judgments are as the light that goes out.
6:6 Because I desired mercy, and not sacrifice; and the knowledge of Elohimאֱלֹהִים

more than burnt offerings.
6:7 But they like Adam they have violated the covenant: there have they acted treacherously against Me.
6:8  Gilead or Gilad (/ˈɡɪliəd/; Hebrew: גִּלְעָד Gilʿāḏ) is the ancient, historic, biblical name of the mountainous northern part of the region of Transjordan. The region is bounded in the west by the Jordan River, in the north by the deep ravine of the river Yarmouk and the region of Bashan, and in the southwest by what were known during antiquity as the “plains of Moab”, with no definite boundary to the east. is a city of those that work iniquity, and is polluted with blood.
6:9 And like troops of robbers wait for a man, so the company of priests murder [in] the way by Shechem: for they commit wickedness.
6:10 I have seen a horrible thing in the house of Israel: the fornication of Ephraim [is] there, Israel is defiled.
6:11 Also, O Judah, he has set a harvest for you, when I returned the captivity of my people.
