Hosea Chapter 12

Reproof of Ephraim, Judah and Jacob


12:1 Ephraimאֶפְרַיִם
(/ˈiːfriːəm/;ʾEp̄rayīm, in pausa: אֶפְרָיִם‎ ʾEp̄rāyīm). The Book of Genesis related the name “Ephraim” to the Hebrew root פָּרָה (pārā), meaning “to be fruitful”. This referring to Joseph’s ability to produce children, specifically while in Egypt (termed by the Torah as the land of his affliction). The name Ephraim can therefore be translated as “I will be fruitful”, with the prefix of aleph (א‎) indicating the first person, singular, future tense For more info click here
feeds on wind, and follows after the east wind: he daily increases lies and ruin; and they cut a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt.
12:2 YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

he will repay him according to his deeds.
12:3 He took his brother by the heel in the womb, and by his strength he contended with Elohimאֱלֹהִים

12:7 He is a merchant, the balances of deceit are in his hand: he loves to oppress.

12:10 I have also spoken by the prophets, and I have multiplied visions, and
the prophets use parables.
12:11 Is
Gilead evil? surely they are vanity: they sacrifice bulls in Gilgal; yes, their altars are like heaps in the furrows of the fields.
12:12 And Jacob fled to the country of Syria, and Israel served for a wife, and for a wife he kept sheep.
12:13 And by a prophet YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
