Isaiah Chapter 27

God’s vineyard

27:1 On that day YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
Hebrew Yəhōwā, one vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה‎ (YHWH), the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. with His cruel and great and strong sword will bring punishment on Leviathanלִוְיָתָן

* Leviathan. the giant, earth-grinding serpent-fish symbolizes the great world powers, Isaiah uses the death of the Leviathan to hint to the eventual downfall of the enemies of Israel (Radak).- Three different descriptions – bar-like, coiled and in the sea hint at the different natures of the world powers (Rashi). that coiled snake; and he will kill the venomous snake that is in the sea.
27:2 On that day
ya’ll will sing about [Israel], ‘A vineyard of fine wine’.
27:3 I am YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

who guards it; I will water it constantly: I will guard it night and day, so that no one hurts it.
27:4 I’m not angry: if only I were at war with the weeds and thorns, I would go through them, I would burn them all.
27:5 Or if [Israel] would cling to Me for protection, then he may make peaceשָׁלוֹם

27:6 [Days] are coming when Jacob יַעֲקֹב
(/ˈdʒeɪkəb/; Modern: Yaʿaqōv (help·info), Tiberian: Yaʿăqōḇ; Arabic: يَعْقُوب, romanized: Yaʿqūb; Greek: Ἰακώβ, romanized: Iakṓb) the name Yaʿaqōv יעקב is derived from ʿaqev עָקֵב “heel”, as Jacob (later called Israel) was born grasping the heel of his twin brother Esau. for more info click here
will take root: Israel will
bud and blossom, and fill the face of the world like fruit.

God’s penalties differ from judgements


27:7 He has struck him, as he struck those that struck him? Was he killed as his killers were killed?
27:8 According to its measure [of sin], He argued against her farmland, taking it away with His hard wind on the day of the east wind.
27:9 By this so will the sin of Jacob יַעֲקֹב

be atoned for; and this will be the full fruit of the removal of his sin; when he makes all the
altar stones like chalk stones crushed to pieces, the Asherah-trees and the sun-idols will no longer stand up.
27:10 Because the fortified city is alone, and the homes deserted, and left like a wildernessכַּמִּדְבָּר

: there will the calf graze, and there will it lie down, and strip its  branches.
27:11 When its limbs are dried, they will be broken off: the women will come, and set them on fire: because it is a nation without understanding: So its Maker will not show mercy on it, and its Creator will not show no favor to it.

Restoration of the dispersed


27:12 And it will so happen on that day, that YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

will thresh from the channel of the Euphrates River to the Brook of Egyptמִצְרַיִם
Transliteration:miṣrayim – Pronunciation: mits-rah’-yim adjective, proper locative noun – Egypt = “land of the Copts (a member of a people descended from the ancient Egyptians)” . For more info click here
, and ya’ll will be gathered up one by one, O ya’ll Children of Israel.
27:13 And it will so happen on [that] day, that a great shofarשׁוֹפָר

will be blown, and those who were lost in the land of Assyria (or Asshur), and those driven away in the land of Egyptמִצְרַיִם
