Isaiah Chapter 39

Hezekiah shows his treasures

39:1 At that time Merodachbaladan, the son of Baladan, king of Babylon (Iraq), sent letters and a gift to Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּ‎
(/ˌhɛzɪˈkaɪ.ə/; romanized: Ḥīzqīyyahū), or Ezekias[c]or Hizkiah or Hizkijah = “Jehovah is my strength” (born c. 741 BCE, sole ruler c. 716/15–687/86 or 697–642) was the son of Ahaz and the 13th king of Judah
: because he had heard that he had been sick, and had recovered.

39:2 And Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּ‎
(/ˌhɛzɪˈkaɪ.ə/; romanized: Ḥīzqīyyahū), or Ezekias[c]or Hizkiah or Hizkijah = “Jehovah is my strength” (born c. 741 BCE, sole ruler c. 716/15–687/86 or 697–642) was the son of Ahaz and the 13th king of Judah
welcomed them, and showed them the whole treasure house
, the silver, and the gold, and the spices, and the fine oil, his entire armory, and everything in his treasures: there was nothing in his palace or in his entire domain that Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּ‎

didn’t show them.

Isaiah foretells the captivity

39:3 Then Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּ‎

the prophet came to king Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּ‎

said, They came to me from a faraway country, from Babylon (Iraq).

39:4 Then said he, What have they seen in your house? And Hezekiahחִזְקִיָּהוּ‎

answered, They’ve see everything in my house : there is nothing that I didn’t show them in my treasures .

39:5 Then said Isaiahיְשַׁעְיָהוּ‎

39:6 Look, the days are coming when everything  in your house, and whatever your forefathers have gathered until today, will be carried off to Babylon (Iraq): not a thing will be left, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

39:7 They will carry off some of your descendants, your own offspring, and they will become officers in the palace of the king of Babylon (Iraq).
