Isaiah Chapter 63

God’s vengeance on the nations


63:1 Who is this coming from Edomאֱדוֹם
was an ancient kingdom in Transjordan, located between Moab to the northeast, the Arabah to the west, and the Arabian Desert to the south and east. Most of its former territory is now divided between present-day southern Israel and Jordan. Edom appears in written sources relating to the late Bronze Age and to the Iron Age in the Levant also another name for Esau the brother of Jacob and Esua’s descendants
, with dyed garments from Bozrah? this that is glorious in his apparel, traveling in the greatness of his strength? I that speak in righteousnessבִּצְדָקָה

63:2 Why are you red in your apparel, and your garments like him that treads in the winepress?


63:3 I have trodden the winepress alone; and of the people there was no one with me: for I will tread them in my anger, and trample them in my fury; and their juice shall be sprinkled on my garments, and I will stain all my clothing.
63:4 Because the day of vengeance is in my heart, and the year of my redeemed is come.
63:5 And I looked, and there was no one to help; and I wondered that there was no one to uphold: So my own arm brought salvationוַתּוֹשַׁע

63:6 And I will stomp down the people in my anger, and make them drunk in my fury, and I will bring down their juice to the earth.

63:7 I will mention the loving kindnesses of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

63:8 Because he said, Surely they are my people, children that will not lie: so he was their Saviorלְמוֹשִׁיעַ

63:19 We are Yours: You never bore rule over them; they weren’t called by Your Name.
