Jonah, complaining at God’s mercy, is reprimanded
4:1 But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was very angry.

4:5 So Jonah went out of the city, and sat on the east side of the city, and there made him a booth, and sat under it in the shade, until he might see what would happen in the city.

For more info click here God prepared a leafy plant, and made it to come up over Jonah, that it might be a shade over his head, to relieve him from his discomfort. So Jonah rejoiced over of the leafy plant.
4:7 But God prepared a worm at dawn of the next day, and it attacked the leafy plant and it dried up.
4:8 And it so happened, when the sun rose, that God prepared a scorching east wind; and the sun beat on Jonah’s head, so that he felt fainted, and asked to die, and he said, It is better for me to die than to live.
4:9 And God said to Jonah, Why are you so grieved over a leafy plant? And he said, I am greatly grieved to death.
