4:1 When Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:2 And even came before the king’s gate: because there was no entering into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.
4:3 And in every province, where ever the king’s word and his decree came, [there was] great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and sackcloth and ashes were spread on many.
Esther sends to Mordecai
4:4 So Esther’s maids and her eunuchs came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly writhed in pain; and she sent clothing to clothe Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:5 Then Esther called for Hatach, one of the king’s eunuchs, who was made to stand before her. And she wanted him ask Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the law that was given at Shushan in order to destroy them, to show it to Esther, and to reveal it to her, and to command her that she should go in to the king, to make supplication to him, and to seek help from him for her people.
4:9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:10 Again Esther spoke to Hatach, and ordered him to go to Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:11 for all the king’s servants, and the people of the king’s provinces know, that whoever, whether man or women, shall come to the king into the inner court, who is not called, there is one law of his, execution except such to whom the king shall hold out the golden scepter, so that he may live. But I have not been called to come in unto the king these thirty days.
4:12 And they told to Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:14 For if you are completely silent at this time, then relief and deliverance shall rise up to the Jews from another place; but you and your father’s house shall be destroyed: and who knows if you have attained to the kingdom for [such] a time as this?
Esther appoints a fast
4:15 Then Esther said to take back to Mordecaiמָרְדְּכַי

4:16 Go, gather together all the Jews that are present in Shushan, and fast ya’ll for me, and don’t eat or drink three days, night or day: My maidens and I also will also fast in the same way. And so will I go in to the king, which [is] not according to the law: and if I die, I die.
