Foolishness of trusting in Egypt

31:1 Woe to those that go down to Egypt מִצְרַיִם‎

31:2 Yet he is also wise* Sarcastically, Isaiah tells his fellow Jews that they thought they could avert Devine punishment by seeking aid from foreign powers, but God is “also” wise and can easily circumvent their plans (Metzudos; Malbim). – From the Artscroll English Tanach , and He has brought evil, and didn’t retract His words: He will rise up against the house of evildoers, and against the anyone who assists people who commit sin.
31:3 The Egyptians [are] men, and not EL אֵל

31:7 Because on that day every man will throw away his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which your own hands have made for you in sin.

Assyria’s Doom

31:8 when Assyria will fall by the sword, of one who in not a man; and the sword,  of one who isn’t human will devour him: He will escape from the sword, and his young men will become bondsmen.
31:9 His rock will pass away in terror, and his rulers will be ruined by a miracle, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה‎
