Zechariah Chapter 1

Zechariah’s exhortation


1:1 In the eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

1:5 Your forefathers, where are they? And the prophets, do they live forever?
1:6 But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, didn’t they take hold of your fathers? and they returned and said, Like YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

1:8 I saw at night, and there was Man riding on a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle bushes that were in the pool of water; and behind Him were horses red (or bay), sorrel, and white.
1:9 Then said I, O my lord, what [are] these? And the angelמַלְאָךְ

1:10 And the man who was standing among the myrtle bushes spoke up and said, These [are] those whom YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

showed me four carpenters.
1:21 Then said I, What [are] these coming to do? And he spoke, saying, These are the horns which have scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head: but these are come to terrify them, to throw down the horns of the Gentiles, which lifted up [their] horn over the land of Judah to scatter it.
