Abijah succeeds Rehoboam


13:1 NOW in the eighteenth year of king Jeroboamיָרָבְעָם‎

13:2 He reigned three years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Michaiah the daughter of Uriel of Gibeah. And there was war between Abijahאֲבִיָּם

stood up upon mount Zemaraim, which is in the hills Ephraimהר אפרים
or alternatively Mount of Ephraim, was the historical name for the central mountainous district of Israel once occupied by the Tribe of Ephraim (Joshua 17:15; 19:50; 20:7), extending from Bethel to the plain of Jezreel. In Joshua’s time (Joshua 17:18), approximately sometime between the 18th century BCE and the 13th century BCE, these hills were densely wooded. They were intersected by well-watered, fertile valleys, referred to in Jeremiah 50:19

13:7 And
vain men are gathered to him , the sons of Belialבְּלִיַּעַל‎

, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and have made youself priests like of the people of other lands? Whoever comes to consecrate himself with a young steer and seven rams, even he becomes a priest to no gods.
13:10 But as for us, YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

every morning and every evening burnt sacrifices and sweet incense: the shewbread(Hebrew: לחם הפנים Leḥem haPānīm, literally: “Bread of the Faces”, in the King James Version: shewbread, in a biblical or Jewish context, refers to the cakes or loaves of bread which were always present, on a specially-dedicated table, in the Temple in Jerusalem as an offering to God. An alternative, and more appropriate, translation would be presence bread, since the Bible requires that the bread be constantly in the presence of God also set they in order upon the pure table; and the candlestick of gold with the lamps of it, to burn every evening: for we are keeping the charge of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Himself is with us at our head, and His priests and trumpets signal the sound for battle against you. O children of Israel, don’t fight with YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Abijah defeats Jerboam

made an ambush to circle behind them: so they were before Judah, and the ambush was behind them.
13:14 And when Judah looked back, observe, the battle was against them before and behind: and they cried to YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
