Job longs to appear before God
23:1 Then Job answered and said,
23:2 Even today my complaint [is] bitter: my hand is worse than my groaning.
23:3 Oh that I knew [where] I might find Him! that I might approach His seat!
23:4 I would set out my case before Him, and fill my mouth with arguments.
23:5 I would know the words which He would answer me, and understand what He would say to me.
23:6 Would He argue against me with His great power? No; but he would listen to me.
23:7 There the righteous might reason with Him; so would I be delivered forever from my Judge.
God observes our ways
23:8 Look, I go [forward], but He is not there; and backward, but I don’t see Him:
23:9 On the left hand, where He works, but I can’t see Him: He hides Himself on the right hand, so that I can’t see him:
23:10 But He knows the way that I take: [When] I am tried, I shall emerge like gold.
23:11 My foot has held fast in His footsteps, His way have I kept, and not turned.
23:12 nor have I departed from the command of His lips; I cherished the words of his mouth more than my food.
God’s decree is unchangeable
23:13 But He [is] in one [mind], and who can change him? Whatever His soul desires, He does.
23:14 Because He will complete what is appointed for me: and with him are many such things .
23:15 On account of this I’m troubled at his presence: Considering, I’m afraid of him.
