God’s Promise concerning His Servant


42:1 See my servant, whom I support; my chosen, [in whom] my soulנַפְשִׁי

42:3 He will not [even] crush a broken reed , or even put out the smoking wick: he will faithfully administer justice.
42:4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged, until he sets justice in the land: and the islands will long for his Torah וּלְתוֹרָתוֹ‎

42:9 See how the former predictions come true, now I declare new things: before they sprout I will tell you about them.

42:11 Let the wildernessמִדְבָּר

will go out like a mighty warrior, he will stir up vengeance like a man of war: he will shout, even roar; he will overpower his enemies.

The Blindness of the People


42:14 I have long time kept silent; I have been still, and refrained myself: [but now] will I cry out like a woman in labor I will both destroy and swallow up.
42:15 I will destroy mountains and hills, and wither all their vegetation; and I will turn the rivers into islands, and I will dry up the lakes.
42:16 And I will lead the blind by a roadדֶּרֶךְ

that they never knew; on paths that they didn’t know I will have them walk; I will turn darkness into light before them, and straighten their twisted paths. These are things I will do without fail.
42:17 They will withdraw to the rear, and be deeply ashamed, those that trust in carved idols, those that say to the molten idols, Ya’ll are our gods.
42:18 O, ya’ll deaf ones, listen; and  ya’ll blind ones, so that ya’ll may see.
42:19 Who is blind, but My servant? or deaf, like My messengerכְּמַלְאָכִי
