Rebellious Judah and Israel


3:1  If a man divorces his wife, and she leaves him, and marries another man, can he return to her again? Wouldn’t that bring profound guilt on the land? But you have committed adultery with many lovers; yet you want to return to me?, says YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

3:2 Lift up your eyes to the hill tops and see, where haven’t you been lain with. On the roadsדְּרָכִים

; and you have brought guilt on the land with your adultery and with your evil.
3:3 For this reason the showers have been withheld, and the spring rain hasn’t come. Yet you had the boldness of a harlot woman, you refused to be ashamed.
3:4 If only from now on you would call Me , My Father, You are the friend of my youth?
3:5 Will he bear a grudge forever? Or keep it in mind right to the end? Look, you say this but kept doing evil deeds as much as you could.
3:6 YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

because of her adultery and gave her a bill of divorce; yet her unfaithful sister Judahיְהוּדָה

3:9 And it so happened that with the ease of her adultery she brought guilt on the land, because she committed adultery with stones and timber [idols].

3:12 Go and proclaim these words towards the north, and say, Return, you rebellious Israelיִשְׂרָאֵל
