Deuteronomy Chapter 12

Moses lays down certains laws and judgements

12:1 These [are] the statutes and judgments, which ya’ll shall observe to do in the land, which the LORD God of your fathers gives ya’ll to possess it, all the days that ya’ll live upon the earth.
12:2 ya’ll shall utterly destroy all the places, wherein the nations which ya’ll shall possess served their gods, upon the high mountains, and upon the hills, and under every green tree
12:3 And ya’ll shall overthrow their altars, and break their pillars, and burn their groves with fire ; and ya’ll shall hew down the graven images of their gods, and destroy the names of them out of that place.
12:4 ya’ll shall not do so to the LORD your God.
12:5 But to the place which the LORD your God shall choose out of all your tribes to put his name there, [even] to his habitation shall ya’ll seek, and there you will come
12:6 And there ya’ll shall bring your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, and your tithes, and heave offerings of your hand, and your vows, and your freewill offerings, and the firstlings of your herds and of your flocks
12:7 And there ya’ll shall eat before the LORD your God, and ya’ll shall rejoice in all that ya’ll put your hand unto, ya’ll and your households, wherein the LORD your God has blessed ya’ll .
12:8 ya’ll shall not do after all [the things] that we do here this day, every man what ever [is] right in his own eyes.
12:9 For ya’ll are not as yet come to the rest and to the inheritance, which the LORD your God gives you.
12:10 But [when] ya’ll go over Jordan, and stay in the land which the LORD your God gives you to inherit, and [when] he gives you rest from all your enemies round about, so that ya’ll stay in safety ;
12:11 Then there shall be a place which the LORD your God shall choose to cause his name to stay there ; there shall ya’ll bring all that I command you; your burnt offerings, and your sacrifices, your tithes, and the heave offering of your hand, and all your choice vows which ya’ll vow to the LORD
12:12 And ya’ll shall rejoice before the LORD your God, ya’ll , and your sons, and your daughters, and your menservants, and your maidservants, and the Levite that [is] within your gates ; forasmuch as he has no part nor inheritance with you.
12:13 Take heed to yourself that you offer not your burnt offerings in every place that you seeing
12:14 But in the place which the LORD shall choose in one of your tribes, there you will offer your burnt offerings, and there you will do all that I command ya’ll .
12:15 Notwithstanding you may kill and eat flesh in all your gates, what ever your soul lust after, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which he has given ya’ll the unclean and the clean may eat thereof, as of the roebuck, and as of the hart.
12:16 Only ya’ll shall not eat the blood ; ya’ll shall pour it upon the earth as water.

Holy things to be eaten in holy place.

12:17 You may not eat within your gates the tithe of your corn, or of your wine, or of your oil, or the firstlings of your herds or of your flock, nor any of your vows which you vowest, nor your freewill offerings, or heave offering of your hand
12:18 But you must eat them before the LORD your God in the place which the LORD your God shall choose, you, and your son, and your daughter, and your manservant, and your maidservant, and the Levite that [is] within your gates and you will rejoice before the LORD your God in all that you puttest your hands unto.
12:19 Take heed to yourself that you forsake not the Levite as long as you livest upon the earth.
12:20 When the LORD your God shall enlarge your border, as he has promised you, and you will say, I will eat flesh, because your soul longs to eat flesh ; you may eat flesh, what ever your soul lust after.
12:21 If the place which the LORD your God has chosen to put his name there be too far from ya’ll , then you will kill of your herd and of your flock, which the LORD has given ya’ll , as I have commanded ya’ll , and you will eat in your gates what ever your soul lust after.
12:22 Even as the roebuck and the hart is eaten, so you will eat them the unclean and the clean shall eat [of] them alike.
12:23 Only be sure that you eat not the blood for the blood [is] the life ; and you may not eat the life with the flesh.
12:24 You will not eat it; you will pour it upon the earth as water.
12:25 You will not eat it; that it may go well with ya’ll , and with your children after ya’ll , when you will do [that which is] right in the sight of the LORD.
12:26 Only your holy things which you hast, and your vows, you will take, and go to the place which the LORD shall choose
12:27 And you will offer your burnt offerings, the flesh and the blood, upon the altar of the LORD your God and the blood of your sacrifices shall be poured out upon the altar of the LORD your God, and you will eat the flesh.
12:28 Observe and hear all these words which I command ya’ll , that it may go well with ya’ll , and with your children after ya’ll for ever, when you do [that which is] good and right in the sight of the LORD your God.
12:29 When the LORD your God shall cut off the nations from before ya’ll , whither you go to possess them, and you succeeds them, and dwells in their land ;
12:30 Take heed to yourself that you be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before ya’ll ; and that you enquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods ? even so will I do likewise.
12:31 You will not do so to the LORD your God for every abomination to the LORD, which he hates, have they done to their gods ; for even their sons and their daughters they have burnt in the fire to their gods.
12:32 What thing soever I command you, observe to do it you will not add thereto, nor diminish from it.
