Job Chapter 19

Job complains about his friends

19:1 Then Job answered and said,
19:2 How long will ya’ll persecute my soul, and break me in pieces with words?
19:3 These ten times have ya’ll disgraced me:
aren’t ya’ll  ashamed that ya’ll have acted like strangers to me.
19:4 And be it indeed that I have erred, my error remains with myself.
19:5 If clearly ya’ll magnify yourselves against me, and plead against me my shame:

Job’s misery

19:6 Know now that God has wronged me, and has surrounded me with his net.
19:7 See, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no justice.
19:8 He has fenced up my way that I cannot pass, and he has set darkness in my paths.
19:9 He has stripped me of my honor, and removed the crown from my head.
19:10 He has shattered me on every side, and I am gone: and my hope has he uprooted like a tree.
19:11 He has also ignited his anger against me, and he regards me  as one of his enemies.
19:12 His troops assemble, and build up their way against me, and their camp surrounds my tent.
19:13 He has alienated my brothers from me, and my acquaintances are estranged from me.
19:14 My family have failed, and my close friends have forgotten me.
19:15 Those that live in my house, and my slave-girls, count me as a stranger: I am an alien in their eyes.
19:16 I called my servant, and he didn’t answer me; I must beg him with my mouth.
19:17 My breath is repulsive to my wife, though I begged to the children because of my own body.
19:18 Yes, young children despised me; when I get up, and they talk about me.
19:19 All my confidants despised me: and those that I loved have turned against me.
19:20 My bone cleaves to my skin and to my flesh, and I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.
19:21 Have pity upon me, have pity upon me, O ya’ll my friends; for the hand of God has diseased me.
19:22 Why do ya’ll persecute me as God [does], and aren’t satisfied with my flesh?

Job’s belief in the resurrection

19:23 Oh that my words were now written! oh that they were engraved in a book!
19:24 That they were carved with an iron pen and lead in the rock forever!
19:25 For I know that my Redeemer lives, and that he will be the last one standing at end on the earth:
19:26 And though after my skin worms destroy this body, in my flesh shall I see God:
19:27 Whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall see, and not another; though my kidneys are consumed within me.
19:28 But ya’ll should say, Why do we persecute him? Seeing the root of the matter is found in me.
19:29 Ya’ll fear the sword: for fury brings the punishments of the sword, that ya’ll may know there is a judgment.
