Zechariah Chapter 4

The golden menorah

4:1 And the angelמַלְאָךְ

came and talked with me returned, and woke me up, like a man that is wakened out of his sleep.
4:2 And said to me, What do you see? And I said, I looked, and saw a menorah מְנוֹרָה

all of gold, with a bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it, and seven spouts each to the seven lamps on the top of it:
4:3 And two olive trees beside it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other on the left side of it.
4:4 So I answered and spoke to the angelמַלְאָךְ

that talked with me, saying, What [are] these, my lord?
4:5 Then the angelמַלְאָךְ

that talked with me answered and said to me, Don’t you know what these are? And I said, No, my lord.
4:6 Then he answered and spoke to me, saying, This [is] the word of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

4:7 Who [are] you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel [you shall] become a plain: and he shall bring out the top-stone with shouts: Grace, grace for it.

Zerubbabel’s foundation


4:9 The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house; his hands shall also finish [it]; then you shall know that YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

4:10 Because who is scornful on the day of small things? They shall rejoice, and shall see the stone of the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. Those seven are the eyes of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Olive trees and anointed men


4:11 Then I answered, and said to him, What [are] these two olive trees on the right side of the menorahמְנוֹרָה

and on the left side of it?
4:12 And I answered a second time, and said to him, What [are] these two clusters of olives which [are] next to the two golden pipes emptying the golden [oil] out of themselves?
4:13 And he answered me and said, Don’t you know what these [are]? And I said, No, my lord.
4:14 Then he said , These [are] the two anointed man, who stand by the Lord of the whole earth.
