Ezra’s return companions


8:1 These are now the chiefs of the fathers, and this is the genealogy of those who went up with me from Babylon (Iraq), in the reign of Artaxerxes אַרְתַּחְשַׁשְׂתְּא

two hundred males with him .
8:5 Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and
three hundred males with him .
8:6 Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed (servant) the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.
8:7 And of the sons of Elam (eternity); Jeshaiah (or Isaiah) the son of Athaliahעֲתַלְיָה‎

8:8 And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael (who is like God), and with him eighty males.
8:9 Of the sons of Joab; Obadiahעֹבַדְיָה

the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.
8:10 And of the sons of Shelomith (peaceful); the son of Josiphiah, and with him one hundred and sixty males.
8:11 And of the sons of Bebai (my cavities); Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty eight males.
8:12 And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the youngest son of Hakkatan (the small), and with him one hundred and ten males.
8:13 And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet (Elpalet or Eliphalet or Eliphele) , Jeiel (or Jehiel), and Shemaiah, and with them sixty males.
8:14 Of the sons also of Bigvai (in my bodies); Uthai (helpful), and Zabbud (or Zaccur), and with them seventy males.
8:15 And I gathered them together to the river that runs to Ahava; and
we camped there in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priestsכֹּהֲנִים

8:16 Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib (he contends), and for Elnathan, and for Nathan (giver), and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam (friend), head men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.
8:17 And I sent them with commandment to Iddoעִדּוֹ

8:24 Then I separated twelve of the chiefs of the priestsכֹּהֲנִים

Elohimאלֹהֵי
In Hebrew grammatical construct is a way of connecting noun-noun pairs. In english, we use “of”, but in Hebrew there are quite a few ways of doing this. של is usually used in place of “of” in Hebrew, but in this case, we modify the first word, with the suffix “ey” (which is what we do for plural words, which God’s name is in Torah), i.e. God of Abraham becomes Elohei Avraham. also can be of my – See Elohim for more info click here
