Hosea Chapter 9

The distress and captivity of Israel for their sins and idolatry


9:1
O Israel, don’t rejoice for joy, like other people. Because you have gone  lusting away from your El Haiאלהי

, you have loved a reward on every threshing floors of grain.
9:2 The floor and the wine press shall not feed them, and the new wine shall fail in her.
9:3 They shall not live in YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

, neither shall they be pleasing to him: their sacrifices [shall be] like the bread of iniquity to them; all that eat of it shall be unclean: for their bread [is] for their life; it shall not come into the house of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

9:5 What will y’all do in the day of [the] appointed time, and in the day of the feast of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

9:6 For, look, they are gone because of destruction: Egypt shall gather them up, Memphis shall bury them. nettles shall possess the pleasant places for their silver: thorns shall be in their tents.
9:7 The days of her visitation have come, the days of recompense have come; Israel shall know it: the prophet [is] a fool, the spiritual man is insane, for the abundance of your iniquity, and the great hatred.
9:8
Ephraim is a watchman with my El Haiאלהי

: but the prophet is a snare of a fowler on all his ways, and hatred [is] the house of his El Haiאלהי

9:9 They have deeply corrupted themselves, like [in] the days of Gibeah. He will remember their iniquity, He will number their sins.
9:10 I found Israel like grapes in the wilderness; I saw your fathers as the firstfruit in the fig tree at her first time: but they came to Baalpeor, and set
themselves apart to shameful thing; and their abominations like that which they loved.
9:11 Ephraim is like a bird, their glory shall fly away, from birth, and from the womb, and from conception.
9:12 Though they bring up their son’s, yet will I make them childless, without a man. Yes, woe also to them when I turn away from them!
9:13 A
s I saw Tyrus, Ephraim was planted in a pleasant place: but Ephraim shall bring forth his son’s to the murderer.
9:14 O YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

: give them what will you give? Give them a miscarrying womb and dry breasts.
9:15 All their wickedness [is] in Gilgal: for there I hated them: for the wickedness of their doings I will drive them out of My house, I won’t love them anymore: all their rulers are rebellious.
9:16 Ephraim is struck, their root is dried up, they shall bear no fruit, Yes, though they bring forth, yet will I put to death the beloved ones of their womb.

will throw them away, because they didn’t listen to Him: and they shall be wanderers among the nations.
