Genesis Chapter 20

Abraham denies his wife.

20:1 And Abrahamאַבְרָהָם

journeyed from there toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and stayed temporarily in Gerar.
20:2 And Abrahamאַבְרָהָם

said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.
20:3 But Elohimאֱלֹהִים

came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Look, you are but a dead man, because the woman which you have taken; for she is a man’s wife.
20:4 But Abimelech hadn’t come near her: and he said, Adonaiאֲדֹנָי

20:5 Said he not to me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

said to him in a dream, Yea, I know that you did this in the integrity of your heart; for I also withheld y’all from sinning against me: so suffered I y’all not to touch her.
20:7 So now restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for y’all, and you shall live: and if you don’t restore her, know you that you shall surely die, you, and all that are yours.
20:8 So Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were very afraid.

20:10 And Abimelech said to Abrahamאַבְרָהָם

20:12 And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said to her, This is your kindness which you shall show to me; at every place where we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.
20:14 And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them to Abrahamאַבְרָהָם

20:15 And Abimelech said, See, my land is before y’all: stay where it pleases y’all.
20:16 And to Sarah he said, See, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver: look he is to you a covering of the eyes, to all that are with you, and with all other: so she was reproved.
