Law of inheritance

27:1 THEN the daughters of Zelophehad, the son of Hepher, the son of Gileadגִּלְעָד
or Gilad (/ˈɡɪliəd/; Gilʿāḏ) Galeed = “witness heap” or “rocky region” is the ancient, historic, biblical name of the mountainous northern part of the region of Transjordan, the people of the region, son of Machir and grandson of Manasseh, father of Jephthah

27:4 Why should the name of our father be done away (diminished) from among his family, because he has no son ? Give to us [therefore] a possession among the brothers of our father.

27:7 The daughters of Zelophehad speak right you will surely give them a possession of an inheritance among their father’s brothers ; and you will cause the inheritance of their father to pass to them.
27:8 And you will speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a man die, and have no son, then y’all shall cause his inheritance to pass to his daughter.
27:9 And if he have no daughter, then y’all shall give his inheritance to his brothers.
27:10 And if he have no brothers, then y’all shall give his inheritance to his father’s brothers.
27:11 And if his father have no brothers, then y’all shall give his inheritance to his relatives that is next to him of his family, and he shall possess it and it shall be to the children of Israel a statute of judgment, as YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
