1:1 Now after the death of Joshua יְהוֹשֻׁעַ
Yəhōšuaʿ,(/ˈdʒɒʃuə/), lit. ‘Yahweh is salvation’) also known as Yehoshua. Yeshua or Y’shua (ישוע; with vowel pointing Hebrew: יֵשׁוּעַ, romanized: Yēšūaʿ) was a common alternative form of the name Yehoshua (Hebrew: יְהוֹשֻׁעַ, romanized: Yəhōšūaʿ, lit. ’Joshua’) in later books of the Hebrew Bible and among Jews of the Second Temple period. delivered the Canaanites and the Perizzites into their hand and they killed of them in Bezek ten thousand men.
1:5 And they found Adonibezek in Bezek and they fought against him, and they killed the Canaanites and the Perizzites.
1:6 But Adonibezek fled ; and they pursued after him, and caught him, and cut off his thumbs and his big toes.
1:7 And Adonibezek said, Seventy kings, having their thumbs and their big toes cut off, gathered [their meat] under my table like I have done, so God has requited me. And they brought him to Jerusalem, and there he died.

had fought against Jerusalem, and had taken it, and struck down it with the edge of the sword, and set the city on fire.

Ḥevrōn is a Palestinian city in the southern West Bank, 19 mi south of Jerusalem. Nestled in the Judaean Mountains, it lies 3,050 ft above sea level.The city is often considered one of the four holy cities in Judaism as well as in Islam.

1:11 And from there he went against the inhabitants of Debir and the name of Debir before [was] Kirjathsepher
1:12 And Caleb said, He that strikes Kirjathsepher, and take it, to him will I give Achsah my daughter to wife.
1:13 And Othniel the son of Kenaz, Caleb’s younger brother, took it and he gave him Achsah his daughter to wife.
1:14 And it so happened, when she came [to him], that she moved him to ask of her father a field and she lighted from off [her] ass ; and Caleb said to her, What will your?
1:15 And she said to him, Give me a blessing for you have given me a south land ; give me also springs of water. And Caleb gave her the upper springs and the nether springs.
1:16 And the sons of the Kenite, Mosesמשה

1:27 Manasseh didn’t  drive out [the inhabitants of] Bethshean and her towns, nor Taanach and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Dor and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Ibleam and her towns, nor the inhabitants of Megiddo and her towns but the Canaanites would stay in that land.
1:28 And it so happened, when Israel was strong, that they put the Canaanites to tribute, and did not utterly drive them out.

1:29 Ephraim didn’t drive out the Canaanites that lived in Gezer ; but the Canaanites lived in Gezer among them.
1:30 Zebulun didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Kitron, nor the inhabitants of Nahalol ; but the Canaanites lived among them, and became tributaries.
1:31 Asher didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Accho, nor the inhabitants of Zidon, nor of Ahlab, nor of Achzib, nor of Helbah, nor of Aphik, nor of Rehob
1:32 But the Asherites lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land for they didn’t drive them out.
1:33 Naphtali didn’t drive out the inhabitants of Bethshemesh, nor the inhabitants of Bethanath ; but he lived among the Canaanites, the inhabitants of the land nevertheless the inhabitants of Bethshemesh and of Bethanath became tributaries to them.
1:34 And the Amorites forced the sons of Dan into the mountain for they wouldn’t suffer them to come down to the valley
1:35 But the Amorites would stay in mount Heres in Aijalon, and in Shaalbim yet the hand of the house of Josephיוֹסֵף

prevailed, so that they became tributaries.
1:36 And the coast of the Amorites [was] from the going up to Akrabbim, from the rock, and upward.
