Deuteronomy Chapter 13

Idolaters out to death

13:1 IF there arise among you a prophet, or a dreamer of dreams, and gives ya’ll a sign or a wonder,
13:2 And the sign or the wonder happen, of it he spoke to ya’ll , saying Let us go after other gods, which you have not known, and let us serve them;
13:3 You will not listen to the words of that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams for YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

13:4 Ya’ll shall walk after YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ya’ll shall serve him, and cleave to him.
13:5 And that prophet, or that dreamer of dreams, shall be put to death ; because he has spoken to turn [you] away from YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

your God commanded ya’ll to walk in. So will you put the evil away from the midst of ya’ll .
13:6 If your brother, the son of your mother, or your son, or your daughter, or the wife of your bosom, or your friend, which [is] as your own soul, entice ya’ll secretly, saying, Let us go and serve other gods, which you have not known, you, or your fathers ;
13:7 [Namely], of the gods of the people which [are] round about you, near to ya’ll , or far off from ya’ll , from the [one] end of the earth even to the [other] end of the earth ;
13:8 You will not consent to him, or listen to him; neither shall your eye pity him, neither will you spare, neither will you conceal him
13:9 But you will without question kill him; your hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people.
13:10 And you will stone him with stones, that he die ; because he has sought to thrust ya’ll away from YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

13:11 And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is among you.

Idolatrous cities to be destroyed.


13:12 If you will hear [say] in one of your cities, which YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

your God has given ya’ll to stay there, saying,
13:13 [Certain] men, the children of Belialבְּלִיַּעַל‎
Bəlīyyaʿal is a term occurring in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament which later became personified as the devil in Christian texts of the New Testament. Alternate spellings include Baalial, Balial, Belhor, Beliall, Beliar, Berial, Bylyl and Beliya’al. A Hebrew word “used to characterize the wicked or worthless”.
, are gone out from among you, and have withdrawn the inhabitants of their city, saying, Let’s go and serve other gods, which ya’ll have not known ;
13:14 Then will you ask, and make search, and ask diligently ; and, observe, [if it be] truth, [and] the thing certain, [that] such abomination is worked among you;
13:15 You will surely strike the inhabitants of that city with the edge of the sword, destroying it utterly, and all that [is] in it, and the cattle of it, with the edge of the sword.
13:16 And you will gather all the spoil of it into the midst of the street of it, and will burn with fire the city, and all the spoil of it every whit, for YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

13:17 And there shall be attached nothing of the cursed thing to your hand that YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

may turn from the fierceness of his anger, and show ya’ll mercy, and have compassion upon ya’ll , and multiply ya’ll , as he has sworn to your fathers ;
13:18 When you will listen to the voice of YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
