Genesis Chapter 12

The call of Abram

12:1 Now  YAHWEH יְהֹוָה
Hebrew Yəhōwā, one vocalization of the Tetragrammaton יהוה‎ (YHWH), the proper name of the God of Israel in the Hebrew Bible/Old Testament. It is considered one of the seven names of God in Judaism and a form of God’s name in Christianity. Covenant making covenant keeping GOD. For more info click here
had said to Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here, You get out of your birthplace, and from your relatives, and from your father’s house, to a land that I will show you

12:2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you, and make your name great ; and you shall be a blessing
12:3
And I will bless them that bless you, and curse him that curse you and in you shall all families of the earth be blessed.

his brother’s son, and all their substance that they had gathered, and the souls that they had gotten in Haran ; and they went forth to go into the land of Canaan ; and into the land of Canaan they came.
12:6 And Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here passed through the land to the place of Sichem, to the plain of Moreh. And the Canaanite [was] then in the land.
12:7
And  YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

appeared to Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here, and said, to your offspring will I give this land and there built he an altar to  YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

12:8 And he removed from there to a mountain on the east of Bethelבֵּית אֵל

on the west, and Hai on the east and there he built an altar to YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

Abram’s visit to Egypt


12:10
And there was a famine in the land and Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here went down to Egypt to stayed there ; for the famine [was] grievous in the land.
12:11 And it so happened, when he had come near to enter into Egypt, that he said to Sarai his wife, See now, I know that you [are] a fair woman to look at.
12:12 So it shall happen, when the Egyptians see you, that they will say, This [is] his wife and they will kill me, but they will save you alive.
12:13 Please say that, you [are] my sister that it may be well with me for your sake ; and my soul shall live because of you.

12:14 And it so happened, that, when Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here was come into Egypt, the Egyptians saw the woman that she [was] very fair.
12:15 The princes also of Pharaoh saw her, and praised her before Pharaoh and the woman was taken to Pharaoh’s house.
12:16 And he petitioned Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here well for her sake and he had sheep, and oxen, and he asses, and male slaves, and slave girls , and she asses, and camels.
12:17
And YAHWEH יְהֹוָה

12:18 And Pharaoh called Abram Avram which means “High Father” – “av” (אב) “father”, “ram” (רם) “high” Later called Abraham For more info click here, and said, What [is] this [that] you have done to me? why didn’t you tell me that she [was] your wife ?
12:19 Why did you say, She [is] my sister ? So I might have taken her to me to wife now then see your wife, take [her], and go.
12:20 And Pharaoh ordered [his] men concerning him and they sent him, and his wife, and all that he had away.
